As the Supreme Court held historic hearings that will decide the fate of same-sex marriage in America, celebrities, politicians, and influencers shared their opinions on social media: Love can’t wait.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the pro-marriage equality hashtag #LoveCantWait was tweeted more than 35,000 times in one day, according to the Twitter analytics tool Topsy. The hashtag is sponsored by the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest LGBT civil rights organization, who also encouraged social media users across America to turn their Facebook and Twitter profiles red to show their support for same-sex nuptials.

Among them was former first daughter Chelsea Clinton, who displayed the HRC’s red equal sign as her Twitter avatar. Clinton’s mother, presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton, designed her own pro-marriage logo by changing her red, white, and blue 2016 presidential campaign logo to rainbow colors, a symbol of pride for the LGBT community.
“Every loving couple & family deserves to be recognized & treated equally under the law across our nation,” Hillary Clinton tweeted, using the #LoveCantWait hashtag. Here is a sample of the support shown for marriage equality across Twitter on Tuesday:
