After a weeks-long war of words with the national media, Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson took to social media to mock the news organizations that the GOP front-runner has accused of unfair scrutiny of his past statements and autobiography.
The retired neurosurgeon fired back Tuesday night with a slew of satirical graphics, posted to his Facebook page and Twitter account, poking fun at major media outlets for their coverage of him. The graphics — featuring fake, satirical news headlines in the style of breaking news alerts — take direct aim at POLITICO, The Huffington Post, CNN and MSNBC, among others, implying that their coverage of him has been biased. And later, he even launched a meme generator on his campaign website that invited supporters to create their own breaking news memes.

Carson has faced heightened scrutiny in the past two weeks for numerous inaccuracies in stories about his past, including an anecdote in his memoir, “Gifted Hands,” about meeting General William Westmoreland in 1969 and being offered a “full scholarship” to West Point. His campaign later acknowledged that he never applied to the military academy, and may have gotten other elements of his timeline wrong. On Monday, Republican National Committee Chair Reince Preibus called the media attention a “crazy obsession.”
