TIME doesn’t seem to consider Republican presidential candidate and Ohio Gov. John Kasich influential this year.
The magazine released its annual list of the 100 most influential people on Thursday, and honorees include world leaders, politicians, artists and more. This year’s TIME list included all the remaining presidential candidates, except for Kasich. See what other politicians and commentators had to say about the four other candidates who were deemed influential leaders this year.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) on Hillary Clinton:
“That’s the Hillary I know—the friend who takes the call, the public servant who listens and acts, the mom who makes sure it gets done right. She has a spine of steel and a work ethic to match America’s.”
Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-N.C.) on Donald Trump:
“Sure, he’s confrontational, but his hard-nosed style is what has enabled him to turn a $1 million loan into billions and what has made him the likely Republican nominee for president of the United States.”
