Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) would like to be president—president of the Harley Davidson Motor Company that is. After sidestepping numerous questions about his presidential aspirations, Walker finally admitted at least one aspiration: to run up the motorcycle company.
Walker joined the Morning Joe crew to talk about his new book, when co-host Mika Brzezinski asked him about a recent interview, where Walker described a 2016 candidate with a resume that resembled his own.
“You did an interview recently where you described the candidate in 2016 should be and… it seemed like you were talking about Scott Walker!” Brzezinski said.
“I said current or former governor, I’m not a former governor,” Walker said.
“It still sounded like you were talking about Scott Walker!”
“John actually asked me in that question what my ideal candidate would be, it would not be that somebody else couldn’t do it, but I think governors are the ones who get things done, I think historically before Barack Obama the last time we elected a member of Congress was 1960. That was my point, is that by and large Americans want to see people with chief executive experience out there,” Walker said. “OK, well while your chief of staff glares at me, would you be the ideal candidate?” “Oh, I think any of the 30 Republican governors would be the ideal candidate,” Walker said, sidestepping the question again. “I’d love to be president though, I’ll say it right here and live, of the Harley Davidson Motor Company though, but that’s a whole different story.
