Hillary Clinton made nice on Tuesday with the Republican squirrel that’s been dogging her book tour, giving the Republican National Committee intern dressed in a massive, orange rodent outfit a signed copy of “Hard Choices.”
The RNC has sent the squirrel—dubbed the “HRC squirrel,” it even has its own Twitter account—to all of Clinton’s events. The mascot wears a tee shirt that reads, “Another Clinton in the White House is Nuts!”
“Hello Mr. Squirrel, how are you?” Clinton told the squirrel outside a CNN event, according to Talking Points Memo. “I know you’ve been following me around and while you’re in between your gigs. I wanted you to get a copy of my book.”
The former secretary of state even signed a book for the RNC’s most punny campaigner—the squirrel has been lobbing groan-inducing puns like that Clinton is “trying to hide her record on #Benghazi the way I hide acorns”—with a little world play of her own.
