Rep. Sean Duffy says he’s proud of the conservative caucus in the House of Representative—they’ve been “reasonable” throughout the shutdown, he said.
“Though there’s been some dysfunction, it’s been a pretty reasonable caucus as we’ve engaged in debate,” Duffy said on Wednesday’s Morning Joe.
“I’m proud of the caucus in this sense – we first proposed the president a defunding of Obamacare, then we actually all moved and said let’s do a one year delay of Obamacare. The most recent offer before the government shutdown was let’s put the president, Obama in Obamacare along with the administration,” he said. “It was actually a pretty reasonable proposal that we sent over to the president and he said no. That’s what caused the shutdown.”
Morning Joe regular Donny Deutsch disagreed.
“Tell me what’s reasonable,” he said. “When Obamacare was passed by Congress, passed by Senate, upheld by the Supreme Court, then a popular election when we reelected Obama.” But Duffy argued back: “Do you think it’s unfair that Obama be in Obamacare and the administration be in Obamacare?”
