“The Republican consultant model is profoundly wrong,” Newt Gingrich said on Tuesday’s Morning Joe.
The former House speaker and one-time Republican presidential candidate criticized GOP campaign consultants for running a “clever campaign” while at a demographic disadvantage.
Nearly a third of the Romney campaign’s funds paid campaign consultants. The firm of Spencer J. Zwick, a former campaign aide, made nearly $5 million by March for fundraising consulting, according to the Washington Post. Comparably, the Obama campaign spent $75,000 for the same expenses during the same period.
“How do you get guys who are paid for winning, not paid for processing?” he asked.
