Sunday on MHP, we’re still reporting live from Selma!
We’re taking a look at President Obama‘s Speech at the historic Edmund Pettus Bridge. President Obama, accompanied by former President George W. Bush and a bipartisan Congressional delegation of 95 members, spoke on the 50th anniversary of “Blood Sunday.”
Joining us for this segment will be: Christina Greer, Assistant Professor at Fordham University, and Cornell William Brooks, President and CEO of the NAACP.
Later, we’ll discuss how 50 years after the passage of the Voting Rights Act, the struggle continues for equality and progress with a trio of legal experts active in the fight to protect voting rights across America.
Then, we’ll move ahead to Same Sex marriage in Alabama. In February, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the state’s same-sex marriage ban. However, 52 of Alabama’s 67 counties refused to process the necessary paperwork for marriage licenses. Joining us tomorrow is one Montgomery couple who managed to beat everyone to the altar.
