• Charlie Rose interviewed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in an interview that will air Monday night on PBS. In the interview, Assad tells Rose that the U.S. should “expect every action” in retaliation if the U.S. strikes Syria. Assad also accuses the rebel forces of using chemical weapons. (CBS News)

• Secretary John Kerry over the weekend called out Assad for lying about the use of chemical weapons. (AP)

• Russia’s foreign minister announced Monday it will push Syria to place its chemical weapons under international control. (NBC News’ Peter Alexander)
