The clock is ticking and there’s still no deal to avert the fiscal cliff.
There is hope, though. Congressional leaders are meeting with the President at 3:00pm eastern time, in the Oval Office.
Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) said on Jansing & Co., “There is still time for us to hammer out a deal.”
But she insists the biggest obstacle to a deal is the Tea Party. “You have a big chunk, really a plurality of the House Republican conference is made up of these Tea Party extremists who are unwilling to consider an increase in tax rates for the wealthiest two% of Americans. They’re willing to take us over the fiscal cliff and are essentially controlling John Boehner and preventing him for being able to make any kind of reasonable deal to avoid taxes increasing on 98% of Americans, ” Wasserman Schultz said.
