According to one congresswoman, Barack Obama was able to win the White House not once, but twice “because of guilt.”
In an interview with conservative columnist Cal Thomas published on Wednesday, Minnesota Rep. Michelle Bachmann made her claim while explaining why voters may not be ready for a female president.
“I think there was a cachet about having an African-American president because of guilt,” Bachmann said. “People don’t hold guilt for a woman.”
Bachmann went on to add that she believes there is a “pent-up desire” to see a woman as president, but she doesn’t think Hillary Clinton will be the right choice in 2016. “Effectively she would be Obama’s third and fourth term in office,” Bachmann said.
