Today’s installment of campaign-related news items from across the country.
* Former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) held their first joint event as running mates yesterday in Delaware, and the presumptive Democratic vice presidential nominee wasted little time in condemning the Trump/Pence record.
* On a related note, the Biden/Harris campaign boasted yesterday that it had raised a whopping $26 million in the 24 hours after this week’s announcement. That’s roughly double Biden’s previous one-day record.
* Donald Trump continues to rely on gender-based attacks while going after the California senator, arguing on Fox Business this morning that Harris is “sort of a madwoman.” It came a day after Eric Trump favorited a tweet that referred to Harris as a “whorendous pick.”
* Meanwhile, the Trump campaign sent a solicitation to donors yesterday — over Donald Trump’s signature — in which the president sounded a bit like a frustrated tween: “Kamala Harris is the meanest, most horrible, most disrespectful, MOST LIBERAL of anyone in the U.S. Senate, and I cannot believe that Joe Biden would pick her as his running mate.” A separate Trump campaign pitch argued that Biden and Harris “hate America.”
