Last week, Democrats in Wisconsin turned in over a million signatures (nearly twice the 540,208 needed) to trigger a recall election against Republican Gov. Scott Walker.

But with those celebrations over, it’s clear there’s still a lot of work to be done in order to actually remove Walker from office. Here’s the latest developments:
A new poll shows Wisconsin voters approve of the job Walker is doing by a 51-46 percent margin. The poll also shows Walker leading four potential Democratic opponents in a recall.
Walker has been raising and spending millions of dollars in the race. Remember, until the recall election is officially triggered, Walker is allowed to bring in unlimited donations.
That money could mean trouble for the governor, however. State Senator Lena Taylor will join Ed to explain tonight at 8pET on msnbc. And a judge in Madison has granted state election officials an additional 30 days to verify nearly two-million recall signatures against Walker, Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch and four GOP senators. Those petitions were filed Jan. 17 with the state Government Accountability Board. State law gives the board 31 days to verify the signatures’ authenticity. But the board says it’s overwhelmed by the sheer volume of names and a judge’s order to ferret out fictitious names and duplicate signatures. No, it won’t be easy for progressives to turn back Walker’s agenda, including a new law effectively ending collective bargaining rights for most public workers. But then again, nobody said it would be.
