A bar owner in Georgia is under scrutiny for a controversial sign he put up about President Obama. The sign reads, “I do not support the n***** in the White House.”
The bar’s owner, Patrick Lanzo claims he’s not racist but just exercising his First Amendment rights.
“I say just because you’re offended by it doesn’t mean you don’t have the right to say something just the opposite,” Lanzo told Atlanta’s Fox 5.
Lanzo’s bar, The Georgia Peach Oyster Bar, has a history of putting up incendiary signs. In 2009, he protested the healthcare law with a sign that read, “Obama’s plan for health-care: n***** rig it.”
The bar’s website advertises itself as “the Original Klan, Klam and Oyster bar.” More of these controversial signs can been found on his website here (WARNING: not suitable/safe for work) One Paulding County administrator called the most recent sign “repulsive” and “embarrassing.” He said at this point there is nothing the county can do to have the sign removed.
