In 1912, wilson won 435 electoral votes, but he only got 277 in the 1916 election. Every other president to win reelection has done so by expanding their map. The one exception to that is FDR. Roosevelt won more electoral votes in his second election than his first, but his numbers fell in both his third and fourth re-elections.
