A day after conservative Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia died at age 79, politicians on both sides of the aisle began to weigh in on his replacement. Long divided between five justices appointed by Republican presidents and four by Democrats, the court is now split. President Obama has vowed to appoint a progressive successor, and Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid and other Democrats have demanded that the GOP-controlled Senate pledge to confirm a new nominee before Obama leaves office.
