Tuesday night on All In with Chris Hayes: U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, Canadian citizen? The Tea Party Republican released his birth certificate over the weekend amid confusion over his citizenship. Cruz is actually a dual citizen of the U.S. and Canada, having been born to an American mother on Canadian soil. Cruz plans to renounce his Canadian citizenship, however, ahead of a possible run for president in 2016. Senator Cruz is making his voice heard on a wide range of issues in the lead-up to the next election cycle, sounding off on Obamacare, the economy, abortion, and other hot topics. Cruz is likely to make waves again Tuesday night when he attends a Heritage Foundation town hall meeting. Evan Smith, CEO and Editor-in -Chief of The Texas Tribune, will talk with Chris Hayes about why Senator Cruz should be taken seriously.
Later, Alan Rusbridger, Editor in Chief of The Guardian, will join Chris Hayes to talk about the U.K.’s detention of Guardian’s columnist Glenn Greenwald’s partner, David Miranda. Greenwald released Edward Snowden’s leaks about the NSA’s surveillance programs. The Guardian also revealed Tuesday that the British government forced the newspaper to destroy or surrender its copies of the files sent to them by Edward Snowden.
Chris Hayes will also explain how the Tesla Model S, an electric car that just received the highest safety rating ever given by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, is the start of the era of environmentally-friendly vehicles.
