Stephen Colbert can add another accomplishment to his growing list of achievements: his show was the subject of former President Jimmy Carter’s first text message ever.
Carter’s grandson, gubernatorial candidate Jason Carter, tweeted a photo Wednesday of #39’s first text:

Carter recently told Andrea Mitchell that he thinks his electronic communications are being monitored by the NSA, and said he wanted to contact foreign leaders, he uses snail mail. “When I want to communicate with a foreign leader privately, I type or write the letter myself, put it in the post office, and mail it…I believe if I sent an email, it will be monitored,” Carter said.
