Standing before reporters, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi tore into the GOP leadership for skipping town without making any progress on the debt ceiling. “This is chaotic, this is not a professional approach to getting the job done, to getting solutions and resolving issues for the American people,” Pelosi said. The House of Representatives has yet to come to come to an agreement on the budget or the debt ceiling and has to deal with, yet again, a possible government shutdown. This time, the deadline is September 30th–just two weeks after Congress returns from a five-week recess. “I wish that we could stay, our members are prepared to stay–and work,” she continued. This isn’t the first time the Minority Leader has scolded members of the House for their lack of work ethic. Her words on Friday echo what she said in September 2012 when she tried to get House Republicans to deal with the the Violence Against Women Act and and a suspended Farm Bill:
We are prepared to stay…We have been in session only eight days. That’s not right
They are also reminiscent of the scolding she gave Republicans last December for failing to avoid the fiscal cliff…
