Today’s edition of quick hits:
* Note, it looks like the House will have to vote again tomorrow: “The House passed a sweeping $1.5 trillion tax bill on Tuesday that slashes tax rates for corporations, provides new breaks for private businesses and reorganizes the individual tax code.”
* On a related note, the Senate is expected to pass the Republican tax plan tonight.
* The appropriate resolution: “The Republican PR firm that was awarded a $120,000 EPA contract for media monitoring has pulled out of the deal, days after Mother Jones first revealed the controversial arrangement.”
* A worthwhile effort: “The secretive office that processes workplace misconduct complaints on Capitol Hill has declined Sen. Tim Kaine’s request for data on sexual harassment claims filed in the upper chamber — data that Kaine had said he would make public.”
* In case you hadn’t heard about this ruling: “A federal judge in Philadelphia on Friday ordered the Trump administration not to enforce new rules that could significantly reduce women’s access to free birth control.” * I’m worried about this site’s future: “‘We the People,’ the website that hosts petitions to the federal government, will be going offline at midnight Tuesday. The White House told The Associated Press that it was ‘temporarily’ taking down the website. It promised to restore the online tool in late January, saying the new platform would save taxpayers more than $1 million a year.” Anything to add? Consider this an open thread.
