Last night Rachel ran through the public record of House members who have expressed support for a clean continuing resolution that would re-open the federal government, counting up to the 217 necessary for a majority vote. I didn’t include all of the citations in last night’s links list so I am recording them here instead.
The count begins at 195, which is the number of Democrats who signed Nancy Pelosi’s letter to Speaker John Boehner.
Ok, here we go:
196. Rep. Pat Meehan, (R) Pennsylvania: “I believe it’s time for the House to vote for a clean, short-term funding bill to bring the Senate to the table and negotiate a responsible compromise.”
197. Rep. Scott Rigell, (R) Virginia: We fought the good fight. Time for a clean CR.
198. Rep. Jon Runyan, (R) New Jersey: “Enough is enough. Put a clean (continuing resolution) on the floor and let’s get on with the business we were sent to do.”
199. Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick, (R) Pennsylvania: “I was sent to Washington to solve problems and make government work, not shut it down.”
200. Rep. Lou Barletta, (R) Pennsylvania: “Rep. Lou Barletta … said he would ‘absolutely’ vote for a clean bill to avert a government shutdown.” (See also.)
201. Rep. Peter King, (R) New York: “Representative Peter King (R., N.Y.) tells National Review Online … he won’t vote for anything other than a clean CR.”
202. Rep. Charlie Dent, (R) Pennsylvania: “I’m prepared to vote for a clean CR … I don’t want the government to shut down.”
203. Rep. Frank Wolf, (R) Virginia: “This is bad for America…Enough is enough… It’s time to govern. Open up the government.”
204. Rep. Michael Grimm, (R) New York: “A Grimm aide told The Huffington Post that the congressman supports a clean continuing resolution.”
205. Rep. Erik Paulsen, (R) Minnesota: “BREAKING: @RepErikPaulsen (R-MN) tells me he’s willing to break w/ GOP leadership & vote for clean resolution if given chance. #shutdown”
206. Rep. Rob Wittman, (R) Virginia: “A constituent of Wittman’s sent The Huffington Post an email she got from the congressman indicating he would vote for a clean funding bill…”
207. Rep. Frank LoBiondo, (R) New Jersey: “… called the situation ‘unacceptable’ and told The Press of Atlantic City that he was in favor of ‘whatever gets a successful conclusion to this’ – and a ‘clean’ continuing resolution … ‘is one of those options.’”
