President Obama has a message for former Massachusetts Republican Sen. Scott Brown: Give Texas a try.
Brown launched an exploratory committee last week for a U.S. Senate bid in New Hampshire, where he could potentially face incumbent Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen.
While Obama hesitated to weigh in on the race until Brown makes a formal announcement, he told NBC station New England Cable News Wednesday, “If Scott Brown wants to move down to Texas, we could always use some moderate Republicans in other parts of the country. New Hampshire has already got it covered with a great senator.”
The Associated Press previously reported on Obama’s remarks on Brown’s political ambitions.
Neither of the Republican senators representing Texas have moderate voting records, with both John Cornyn and Ted Cruz making it onto National Journal’s 2013 list of the “15 Most Conservative Senators.”
