Emmy Award-winning singer-songwriter Carole King, whose Broadway musical “Beautiful” earned seven Tony Award nominations in 2014, stopped by “Morning Joe” on Wednesday, where she discussed her decision to perform at the homecoming celebration for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.
“Bowe Bergdahl … lived in Hailey, Idaho, which is near where I live,” King explained. “I’m an Idahoan.”
Bergdahl, 28, was released May 31 after being held by the Taliban since June 30, 2009.
“I didn’t know him or his parents very well, but … Bowe was very well liked by the town,” King said. “All the things we’re finding out doesn’t change anything for me. I am committed to support[ing] my community, my neighbors, and Bowe, and the president in what they’re doing.”
