“It’s been one of the great honors of my life to serve in the Air Force in some capacity for more than three decades,” Graham said in a statement.
He was also a member of the “Gang of Eight” bipartisan senators who wrote legislation for the 2013 comprehensive immigration reform bill. “In debates, he’ll shred ’em,” McCain told Bloomberg News. “Have you see ever seen Senator Graham in a debate, on the floor of the Senate? He will do wonderful. I don’t want to raise expectations, but I’m confident.” In 2002, Graham ran for U.S. Senate after long-time South Carolina U.S. Senator Strom Thurmond decided to retire.
