Donald Trump has been a boon for the ratings of late night talk shows, but that hasn’t convinced one popular host he’s worth booking — John Oliver.
The host of HBO’s “Last Week Tonight” made the case for not providing the GOP front-runner a platform during an interview Friday on “CBS This Morning.”
“I don’t really care about him in any capacity,” he said. “I don’t really have anything to say to him.” The British-born Oliver, who was initially a breakout star as a correspondent on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,” has developed a loyal audience who appreciate his outsider take on the American news cycle.

“He’s said everything he wants to say. He has no internal monologue, that man. So it’s not like you’re going to find the secret nugget he’s been holding back. He’s an open book And that book doesn’t have that many interesting words in it,” he added before mocking how prematurely the U.S. media covers it’s country’s general elections. Still, 2016 contenders have undeniably provided a ratings spark for late night comedy shows, with Trump being the catalyst for viewership spikes for both NBC’s Jimmy Fallon and CBS’s Stephen Colbert. He will follow-up those interviews with an already controversial scheduled appearance on “Saturday Night Live” on November 7. His Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, has already made a well-received cameo appearance on the current season.
