A tour bus collided with an amphibious duck tour vehicle in Seattle Thursday, killing four and injuring nearly three dozen, officials said.
About 50 people were evaluated from the scene. Twelve people have critical injuries, and 20 others were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
Seattle Mayor Ed Murray said foreign students were among the victims, but did not provide any additional information. He said officials were working to contact their consulates.
The crash happened Thursday at approximately 11:15 a.m. PT on the Aurora Avenue Bridge, Seattle Fire Chief Harold Scoggins said.
It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the crash. Two passenger cars were also involved in the crash, a Seattle Fire Department spokesperson said.
Ride the Ducks’ amphibious vehicles give tours of Seattle by boat and by land. No information was immediately available about the tour bus in the collision.
“There is no fast way to move forward on this,” Mayor Murray said. “This is a terrible tragedy.”
