At a town hall event in New Hampshire Wednesday, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie boasted that he is “the last person” Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton would want to meet on the debate stage in September.
Alluding to his status as a former federal prosecutor, something he reminds voters of frequently on the campaign trail, Christie continued, “I’ll beat her rear end on that stage, and you know what, after I do, she’ll be relieved because she’ll just be worried I was going to serve her with a subpoena. It’ll be a relief just to lose the debate.”
Matt Katz, a reporter covering Christie for WNYC and New Jersey Public Radio, tweeted that Christie’s “beat her rear end” line was met with laughter and applause from the crowd.
