The morning after the Senate failed to pass a bipartisan agreement on gun control, the Morning Joe crew called out those 45 senators, including the four Democrats, who voted “No.”
“On Capitol Hill, less than 55% of the Senate was willing to back a proposal that polls say is supported by roughly 90% of Americans,” co-host Mika Brzezinski said on Thursday’s Morning Joe. “As a public service, we feel the need to read all the names of all the senators who voted ‘No’ on the issue…We have a 3-hour show. We’ll take the time.”
“We are the 90%,” host Joe Scarborough said. “And 90% will not be ignored.”
There were only four Republicans who voted for the measure, leading Scarborough to declare, “This party is moving toward extinction. A new party is going to replace it.”
“Everyone who voted yesterday knows after reading that bill, in their heart of hearts, that the bill would have made the America safer,” he added. “The American people were insulted yesterday.”
