And who better to discuss the candidates’ prospects than Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd, who’s been barnstorming through battleground states to take the pulse of voters who will decide which party holds the Senate and shapes policy inside their states.
Today’s stop on The Trail is in Georgia, and a look at two critical races: first, for control of the Statehouse–incumbent Republican Nathan Deal was supposed to cruise through his re-election fight, but instead he’s getting a serious challenge from State Senator Jason Carter.
And then there’s the Georgia Senate race that National Democrats are buzzing about: Michelle Nunn has recently held a lead over Republican businessman David Perdue in a race that may save the Senate majority for the party. Legacies are on the line here–Jason Carter is the grandson of President Jimmy Carter and Michelle Nunn is the daughter of longtime Georgia Democratic Senator Sam Nunn–but can those names, as well as the demographics of Georgia, lead to upsets on election night or potential run-offs?
