The Florida governor’s plan to trim the voter rolls of non-eligibles has ensnared a 91-year-old, decorated WWII veteran.
ThinkProgress reports that Bill Internicola, who has voted in Florida for the last 14 years, received a letter from his local Florida county telling him he is “not a U.S. Citizen.” The letter advised him he could request a hearing to prove he is in fact a citizen — or forfeit his voting rights.
Florida Gov. Rick Scott’s government compiled a list of 108,000 Floridians who it believes may not be eligible to vote in the state. A recent Miami Herald analysis showed that the bulk of those identified by Walker were likely to be Hispanic, Democrat, or independent voters.
