For $72, or more, if you’re feeling generous, the “Official Dick Cheney Cowboy Hat” can be yours. The hat, an exclusive item, “is engraved with Vice President Dick Cheney‘s signature and specially lined with the Republican seal,” according to the order form webpage.
The “official” memorabilia is being sold by the Republican National Committee as part of an effort “to ensure the GOP has the resources to elect the kind of leader America needs,” the party committee’s website states. The proceeds from the sale of all hats are considered donations to the RNC.
Cheney is supporting the committee’s efforts to elect a Republican president in 2016.
The former vice president has been back in the spotlight lately, following the release of the Senate Intelligence Committee’s torture report on Dec. 9, which revealed that American interrogators used harsh techniques on more than a hundred detainees. When questioned about the CIA’s torture program on the Dec. 14 episode of “Meet the Press,” Cheney stood by the actions that took place during his vice presidency. After being reminded by host Chuck Todd that 25% of detainees turned out to be innocent, Cheney remarked, “I have no problem as long as we achieve our objective.”
