They always say what’s old is new again…and that just might be the case with a political campaign strategy against Mitt Romney.
The strategy – which was talked about in Michael Kranish and Scott Helman’s “The Real Romney” – is all about tagging Romney as a “corporate raider” who made his millions at the expense of others. When the strategy was first used against Romney in the 1994 campaign against Kennedy, the Kennedy campaign team used a number of 30-second advertisements to drive their point home.
In May, Democratic strategist Bob Shrum, who was part of the team that created these ads, told msnbc’s Politics Nation that the Obama campaign should adopt that same strategy.
It looks as thought they might have done just that…Check out today’s Deep Dive below. We talked with Democratic strategist Tad Devine. Devine was also a part of the team that created that ad campaign, and talks about why he thinks we’re seeing strikingly similar ads make an appearance today.
