On Wednesday, October 21, 2015, the New York Mets defeated the Chicago Cubs in game four of the National League Championship Series, advancing to the World Series after a miracle month of stunning home runs and power pitches.
It will be the first time the Mets will be in a World Series in 15 years — they haven’t been World Series champions since 1986.
Players ran through the field with clenched fists in the air after sweeping the series 8 to 3 at Wrigley Field. Champagne was thrown to fans in the stands by manager Terry Collins, and after in the Mets locker room to goggle-covered faces.
Daniel Murphy, whose incredible recent performance has left fans shocked, broke a record with his sixth consecutive postseason home run. In the first inning alone, first baseman Lucas Duda and catcher Travis d’Arnaud hit back-to-back homers. Game 1 of the World Series will be Tuesday either in Kansas City or Toronto.
