Last night in London, Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings won gold in an all-American Beach Volleyball final against Jen Kessy and April Ross. May-Treanor and Walsh Jennings won their third consecutive Olympic gold medals in the event in their last match together. In their 11 year partnership, the pair have won 103 career titles including three world championships and three Olympic gold medals. May-Treanor offered some parting words after the match, “Kerri and I, we want to go down as the best team in history. This is what we wanted.”
Kessy and Ross’s win over top seeded Brazil in the semi-final match solidified their ability to compete at the highest level.
In today’s competition, American Ashton Eaton will contend for the podium in the last five events of the Men’s Decathalon. Eaton is in first place after one day of competition. Also in Track and Field, Team USA’s Christian Taylor is favored for gold in the Triple Jump.
