Congressman Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., said today on Jansing & Co. that “Plan B” is going nowhere.
“What’s happening here is that Speaker Boehner cannot sell a reasonable compromise to what is a very right-wing, extreme, tea party caucus,” Van Hollen explained.
House Republicans will bring “Plan B” to the floor Thursday, it continues the Bush tax cuts for everyone making less than $1 million per year. House Democrats, Van Hollen said, will vote against “Plan B” overwhelmingly, but they are interested in compromising to get a deal to avert the fiscal cliff.
“A lot of our members are very uncomfortable already with the compromises the president has made. He has given on very important areas…Democrats in the house already have heartburn but many are willing to take what is a compromise, recognizing you don’t get everything your way,” Van Hollen told Chris Jansing.
