President Barack Obama visited New York City yesterday with the first lady. At night he attended two fundraisers, including one at the home of actors Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick and another at the Plaza Hotel, which included a performance by Mariah Carey, and was co-hosted by Newark, N.J., Mayor Cory Booker. The mayor, who supports the Obama re-election campaign, stumbled recently in his critique of an Obama campaign ad.
Before his late-night festivities, though, the president toured the World Trade Center site (pictured above) with local politicians, including New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. The scene made for an interesting political quartet given the politics of each man.
